“There is no try, only do.” — Yoda, Empire Strikes Back
So we’re one day into the new year. My goals for the new year are pretty simple.
When I search for a word for what I want this new year to be, only one word comes to mind: DO.
After February’s Krispy Kreme Challenge, my race schedule is a blank slate. In October, I will direct the second incarnation of a local 5k.
My main goal is to be me. Just do what I can do and say no or “not now” to what I can’t. To help with this, I signed up for the Year of No Nonsense.
I want to do an obstacle course race, I’m looking at one in mid-June at the Outer Banks.
I’ll do some virtual races, starting with the Nuun Year Dash in mid-January.
After having a semi-crappy fitness year in 2017, my overall plan is to rebuild and improve.
I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi today. I admit that I’m a little late to the show as a Star Wars fan. I find that Kylie Ren’s quote: “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”
I am still holding onto a lot of mental hinderances that keep me from doing what I can do. Honestly, I’m very scared of failing. I’m afraid of success too. So, I have to let the past, what I did, what I thought I could do, die. Just forget about it and move ahead. So I’m working on making a set time every day for me to do things that calm me, excite me, and center me.
I know, I didn’t really set specifics here. They’re all written down on a big piece of poster board at my house office. Each goal is broken down by month. Below is my list for January.
I think you get the idea . I tried to break each large goal into smaller goals to achieve each month.
What goals have you set for the new year? Do they excite you? Those goals are the best ones. Feel free to share in the comments.
